Who we are

It all started in 2007 with one Nigerien graduating (master’s degree in education) from a university in Louisiana (USA) while also a high school teacher and asking himself how that degree can be used to help Africa. As years go by, he has been able (for over fourteen years) to support students and schools in poor areas with school supplies (backpacks, pens, pencils etc.), clothes, food, desks, etc.
On April 1, 2023, the Nonprofit Organization “Orphans & Widows of Africa (OWA), Inc.” officially entered existence. This a U. S. based 501 (c)(3) Tax-exempt Nonprofit Organization (Federal Tax ID \/ EIN: 92-3282053) Committed to Improving Living and Working conditions of the most deprived.

why choose us?

Our commitment to efficient and impactful use of donor funds has made us one of the most trusted nonprofits in Africa. We work closely with local partners, ensuring that aid is provided to the ones in need
Trusted

When it comes to supporting widows in Africa, donors can trust that every contribution to our organization makes a direct, meaningful impact. Our nonprofit is committed to empowering widows by providing essential financial support, educational resources, and food assistance. These three pillars ensure widows not only survive but also have opportunities to build brighter, self-sufficient futures for themselves and their families. By donating to us, supporters help uplift an often-overlooked community that faces unique and challenging hardships.

Transparency

Transparency is central to our organization. We understand that donors want assurance that their contributions are put to good use, which is why we provide detailed reports on how funds are allocated and the results of our initiatives. Every donor receives insights into the lives transformed by their generosity, ensuring that our relationship is built on accountability and trust. This transparency not only builds confidence but also allows donors to see firsthand the positive changes they are a part of, fostering a deeper, more rewarding connection to our cause.

Value

Our work is especially valued across Africa, where widows are often among the most vulnerable members of society. Through our targeted assistance, we address their immediate needs while also investing in their long-term stability. Financial aid helps them meet essential expenses, educational assistance opens doors for growth, and food aid ensures they and their dependents are nourished. The impact of these initiatives extends beyond individual lives, as they help strengthen entire communities, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and resilience.
